CSA and Retail Manager Farmers Market Sales Team

CSA AND RETAIL MANAGER

We are seeking a motivated individual to fill our CSA and Retail Manager position. This person is responsible for managing all administrative tasks related to our CSA. This person is also responsible for managing administrative tasks related to the 2-3 farmers markets that we participate in weekly. This individual works closely with the farm owner in the office and attends weekly staff meetings and participates in both big picture strategizing and daily operational decisions.

CSA responsibilities

  • Complete CSA administrative tasks including: sign-ups, payments, orders, and delivery logistics.
  • Handle all CSA member communication.
  • Manage CSA administrative tasks.
  • Perform outreach, tabling, and meetings as necessary.
  • Organizing Open Houses and farm events for CSA members.
  • Improve member retention and expand overall numbers.

Farmers Market responsibilities

  • Scheduling farmers market staff.
  • Hiring and training new farmers market staff.
  • Complete Farmers Market administrative tasks including: paperwork and tracking sales.
  • Order, maintain, and organize farmers market supplies.
  • Maintain and improve farmers market display material, set-up, and general systems.
  • Vending at farmers markets, either regularly or as a sub, which includes driving, customer service, POS entry, attention to detail, repetitive heavy lifting, and managing market staff.

Secondary responsibilities

  • Contribute to social media input and website updates.
  • Assist in sales to retailers and restaurants.

The work requires the physical and mental capacity to contribute to an often rigorous, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding agricultural practice. Position is approximately 15-20 hours/week.

Qualifications

  • Strong office-related skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, word, and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willing to make a one-year minimum commitment.
  • Experience working on a farm is desired, but not required.

Applicant should be self-motivated, hardworking, eager to learn, have excellent people skills, great multi-tasker, and be in good physical condition. Ability to perform certain tasks such as heavy lifting (over 50#), standing, bending, and walking (No applicant will be rejected because of a condition or impairment that, with reasonable accommodation, does not prevent performance of work.)

Compensation

This is a year-round position with hours required per week dependent on the season/time of year.  Days of the week and time of day worked are very flexible. Starting pay commensurate with experience. Staff also receive a discount on anything in our farm store.

Farmers Market Sales Team

Skinner Farms is looking for a high energy and enthusiastic person with natural sales capabilities to join our farmers market sales team! Responsibilities will include preparing for markets at our farm in Shelbyville, KY, setting up and breaking down our vendor booth, educating customers on the benefits of our products, and building relationships with customers and other market vendors.

Responsibilties:

·      Educate customers and sell our products from a place of passion

·      Drive to and from farmers market (must have valid driver’s license)

·      Prepare supplies and stock for weekend

·      Load, transport, and set up market supplies

·      Complete purchases with a smartphone/tablet (provided)

·      Work on Saturday mornings

·      Understand the value of buying local and supporting small businesses

·      Capable of heavy lifting of coolers (up to 50 pounds), tents, and tables

 

This work requires the physical and mental capacity to contribute to an often rigorous, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding agricultural practice. Position is approximately 6 hours every Saturday morning.
